How to Choose Right Method for Different Aromatic Plants

At present, there are four extraction methods: hydrodistillation, solvent extraction, co2 extraction and cold press. For hydrodistillaiton, it has three types: water distillation, water and steam distillation and direct steam distillation. For solvent extraction, the solvent can be hexane and ethanol. How to choose them for your aromatic plants? There are two factors: cost and raw materials.

Distillation methods are good for almost all kinds of flowers, leaves, grass, seeds ,roots, etc. Solvent extraction and CO2 extraction is relatively expensive, which is suitable for expensive delicate and thermally unstable materials like jasmine, tuberose, sandalwood, hemp, etc. At last, cold press is very suitable for citrus rinds for most citrus fruit can’t resist the temperature of steam and its ingredients will be destroyed.

No matter you choose which way, we can satisfy you for we have different kinds of essential oil distillers and supercritical co2 extraction machine.
